Still Crazy After All These Years!

Maybe it’s the nice weather. Maybe it’s that I’m just feeling restless lately. Or maybe it’s because I AM still crazy after all these years. This morning when I woke up I had every intention of going to work and in fact I did go in for a couple of hours. Then I got the idea to go on another road trip for the weekend and so I booked off work, went home and packed a few things and then called Eileen to let her know that I wouldn’t be around this weekend because I was heading off to Virginia. After a 9-hour road trip, I find myself in Harrisonburg, Virginia which is in the Shenandoah Valley. Here’s a little info about the place:
“History and heritage come alive in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Take a scenic drive on our back roads to see the beauty of the pastoral countryside and experience a slower pace of life in quaint villages some of which are on the National Historic Register, such as Bridgewater, Singers Glen, Dayton, and Port Republic. Our regional heritage museums abound with local history and artifacts. See the fabled Shenandoah River that flows through our region. Civil War Trails and Birding and Wildlife signs point to interesting sites for history and nature buffs alike. We are in Stonewall Jackson Country where the famous Civil War general planned and won his famous Valley Campaign of 1862.”
I won’t be able to see everything the place has to offer, but it certainly sounds interesting and so I’ll get up early in the morning and do some exploring!
I think in another life I must have been a long-distance truck driver because I thoroughly enjoy just getting in the car and heading off for places unknown! There’s nothing like living for the moment!
that’s the way I see it!

Have fun! The Shenandoah Valley is charming, even better in fall with all the leaves changing!
I miss the days of being able to just pack up and go. Now with children and dogs it’s nearly impossible!

I completely agree that there’s nothing like living in the moment and taking off. The sad part is that I can’t even take a planned trip. I envy you.

Leigh .. having done the Skyline Drive on this trip I can imagine why it is you say it would be great to see in the fall with the changing colors.
Lola .. I’ve been doing this for a number of years now and I still enjoy the thrill of getting away.

Still to the day I still am?? Probably the Beatles. I think they’re the only ones who can transcend the ages. Guns N Roses are a pretty good one.
